Geraint Gronow
Hailing from a small mining village in Wales, Pontypridd to be precise, I started out when the colour of your logo might have depended on the available 'Magic Makers' — thankfully, Apple changed that.
An ambition was fulfilled when I moved to London, where I spent ten years at various agencies working on brands such as Stella Artois, Fortnum & Mason, Guinness, and Dulux. My last four years in London were with DesignBridge, a multi-award-winning design specialist that has since opened offices in Amsterdam, Singapore, and New York.
Arriving in Cape Town in 2003, I immersed myself in the freelance scene, working with Ogilvy, King James, Gloo, and several smaller independents before joining TBWA Cape Town permanently, focusing primarily on Woolworth’s and The Waterfront.
I later became Creative Director at 34°, specialising in retail and business development. 34° was acquired by King James, which was then acquired by Accenture Song. In these roles, I led creative efforts for many high-profile clients.
Creativity has always driven me. I believe it thrives on human interaction and resonating responses, especially when it brings a smile. With the rapidly evolving tech landscape, we can delve deeper into what makes people ‘tick,’ using technology as an ‘employee’ to make a meaningful impact on lives while having fun and doing good. I truly believe the creative landscape has never been more exciting.
